The Singapore government recently announced commencement of Phase 2 (heightened alert) from 16 May to 13 June 2021. This have may caught many Singaporeans off by surprise, but its not the first time this has happened. For new and potential homeowners, many are confused if they should proceed with their renovation plans. If you are one of them, you are not alone! Let our designers share their insights with you.
1. Official instructions by the Multi-Ministry Taskforce
As opposed to the previous phases or circuit breakers, official instructions provided has
no direct (but still has some) impact on non-essential business. This means there are no additional construction delays that would have happened if there was no phase 2 heightened alert. Thus, homeowners can still proceed to meet with interior designers to discuss and start their renovation journey.
2. Meet online or offline?
While the number of covid cases are rising, this has undoubtedly raised some concerns of homeowners. While conducting online meetings are getting increasingly common and popular, we can only recommend this method for the initial meeting to discuss pre-requisites, pricing and getting to know the designer, which should always be followed up by offline meeting. Why? Simply for a few reasons:
1. Renovation are big ticket items. It always pays to be safe to ensure the interior design firm is legitimate and exists, to prevent them from defaulting & closing up easily.
2. You will be able to see, feel and inspect materials directly at their office.
3. Clearer picture and communication in-person. The last thing you want is to have a miscommunication with your interior designer and end up with a less-than-ideal home.
3. Opt for businesses that have covid precautions in-place.
Although it is mandatory to have Trace Together and temperature checking in most places, its advised to opt for interior design firms that have take extra precautionary measures in this critical time. Some businesses go beyond and provide cleaning services at high traffic areas , staggered appointments slots, etc.
